Why Are We Eating Butter?

Currently, a restrictive ketogenic diet of high fat and very minimal protein and carbs is the only treatment option to slow the progression of PDCD. PDCD is a neurodegenerative, progressive disease of carbohydrate metabolism. Hope for PDCD is raising funds for research for the best therapeutics science has to offer our children: gene therapy.

Gene therapy will give the 1 in ~40,000 children battling PDCD a fighting chance. It has the potential to give them a normal life expectancy, improve quality of life, and stop the disease’s progression.

Because rare diseases are not profitable to cure, many children will pass away before a cure can be found. Without meaningful support from the biotech industry and the US government, it is becoming more and more common for rare disease families to crowdfund the money necessary to create better therapeutics for the children fighting rare diseases.

Support the children battling PDCD with a donation, eating some butter, posting about it on social with #EatButterGiveButter and #GivingTuesday, and passing it on!
